Mexico City, Mexico, September 22, 2022 – Manchester City’s international charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, and Official Water Technology Partner, Xylem, are delighted to announce the enlargement of Xylem Water Heroes Academy, a world initiative in ten cities using the power of soccer to sort out local water challenges.
Since its launch in 2021, Xylem Water Heroes Academy has engaged over 75 young leaders and delivered vital water education to more than 6,000 young folks in five cities: São Paulo, Mumbai, Cape Town, New York City and Shanghai. The expanded network, which now also includes youth-led projects in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Cape Coast, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, goals to positively impact 20,000 extra young individuals over the next 4 years.

More than 20 million residents do not have enough water to drink for almost half the yearand one in five folks have access to only a few hours of working water from their taps a week.<br/>This project will see Young Leaders from love.fútbol use specifically tailored football games to teach younger folks locally on responsible water consumption, in addition to the importance of protected water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).<br/>Zabaleta took half in a youth-led football and water competition and engaged in a Q&A session with young individuals, earlier than learning a conventional Mexican dance.<br/>Reflecting on his visit, Zabaleta stated: “Meeting the Young Leaders in Mexico City was a tremendous experience.
