Man City Legend Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League Trophy visit Cityzens Giving Young Leaders in Mexico City to have fun launch of expanded Xylem Water Heroes Academy

Mexico City, Mexico, September 22, 2022 – Manchester City’s global charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, and Official Water Technology Partner, Xylem, are delighted to announce the enlargement of Xylem Water Heroes Academy, a worldwide initiative in ten cities using the facility of soccer to deal with local water challenges.
Since its launch in 2021, Xylem Water Heroes Academy has engaged over 75 young leaders and delivered important water training to greater than 6,000 younger people in five cities: São Paulo, Mumbai, Cape Town, New York City and Shanghai. The expanded network, which now also contains youth-led tasks in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Cape Coast, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, goals to positively influence 20,000 more young people over the next four years.
Graphical consumer interface<br/><br/>Description mechanically generated with low confidence” winautomationvisibilitylandmark=”true”><br/><br/>To mark the launch, Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League Trophy visited the El Coyolito neighbourhood in Mexico City to meet Cityzens Giving Young Leaders who are using the facility of football to unravel local water points.<br/>Despite  <a href=pressure gauge flooding and rainfall, Mexico City is dealing with a water shortage. More than 20 million residents wouldn’t have enough water to drink for almost half the yearand one in 5 individuals have entry to just a few hours of working water from their taps every week.
This venture will see Young Leaders from love.fútbol use specially adapted soccer video games to educate younger people locally on accountable water consumption, in addition to the significance of safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
Zabaleta took half in a youth-led soccer and water competition and engaged in a Q&A session with younger individuals, earlier than studying a standard Mexican dance.
Reflecting on his visit, Zabaleta stated: “Meeting the Young Leaders in Mexico City was an incredible experience. The method they’re using football to teach kids about the significance of water is artistic and provoking, and it’s great to see this distinctive initiative from Cityzens Giving and Xylem increasing to more cities. The Young Leaders are so engaged with supporting their group and to be able to contribute in a small way was a privilege.”

As part of the exercise in the nation, Young Leaders, Xylem workers and followers from Manchester City’s Official Supporters Club in Mexico City also joined forces to repaint the El Coyolito pitch and create a water-themed mural.
In addition, City within the Community coaches delivered coaching to 40 Young Leaders in Mexico City, sharing experience and data in leadership, group football and WASH. This was adopted by a three-day digital Summit, connecting Young Leaders and Xylem specialists from all ten cities to share ideas on tackling water challenges via soccer.
“Climate change continues to threaten water availability in communities throughout the globe,” said Austin Alexander, Vice President, Sustainability and Social Impact at Xylem. “Xylem Water Heroes Academy harnesses the power of soccer and young leaders to address these water challenges and make our communities more resilient.”

Valeria, a Young Leader with love.fútbol mentioned: “We want all the children here to bear in mind that responsible water consumption is essential, they usually must deal with it. We acquired training from Man City coaches and learnt a number of games that educate kids about water conservation through football. We are really joyful and thankful that Man City and Pablo Zabaleta visited our group.”

Later this season, City followers may have an opportunity to learn extra in regards to the five new Water Heroes Academy tasks and vote for their favorite young water heroes.
